FairFuelUK has reacted with delight to today’s announcement that the August 3p hike in fuel duty is to be deferred.
Quentin Willson, national spokesman for FairFuelUK said, ‘For months FairFuelUK has pushed, argued, pleaded and proved to the government that scrapping the August duty rise would be essential to the economic future of this country. Thankfully, the Government has listened and have acted for the good of struggling consumers across the UK. This is democracy at its very best where a government and a Chancellor can review decisions, and act with fairness and common sense. Businesses and hard-working families across this country will breathe a grateful sigh of relief, at least for the rest of this year. Well done to every MP and Minister who has listened.’
Peter Carroll, founder of FairFuelUK said, ‘This is a great boost for those organisations that back FairFuelUK. In particular, for the RAC, the Road Haulage Association, the Freight Transport Association and The Fuelcard Company. Special thanks go the hundreds of thousands of people all across Britain who have signed up to the campaign. There are serious longer term issues to address on fuel taxation and pricing – but for today, we thank the Government for listening and acting’.

It is about time the scallywags in government listened to the people after all was not it supposed to be us that elected them ? now we need to campaign to get the cost of fuel lowered below a pound a litre and some sort of sensiblity back into the country . After all smoking has been reduced hence less tax from there so it seems lets hit the motorists maybe on paper a good idea but in reality it hits everyone because everything has to travel to be distributed and all this tax does is to raise Inflation and the cost of living along with it enough said i think people know where i am coming from lets get something done !!!!!!!! KEEP BACKING FAIR FUEL UK

Fantastic to hear and a massive well done of course to Fair Fuel and all it's supporters. However, in all the news reports so far there has been no mention whatsoever of Fair Fuel !! In fact everybody but ! It seems to me that various parties have realised, due to Fair Fuel, that reducing fuel duty is a points winner and are claiming the praise for it !! Even the bloody Sun has been mentioned for their 'campaign' !!

Shame some more politically minded people have to harp on about U turning etc - the fact is the government, for all their faults has listened to the people and acted - can we ask more from democracy?

Delighted that everyone's great work so far has resulted in the chancellor listening at last. Let's not get complacent , though, they've only deferred it, let's press on and get them to scrap the duty rise altogether.

Whilst the scrapping of the proposed increase is welcome, reducing it would be better. Do these morons who govern us not realise that everything we make,sell or buy has transport costs at each stage and these will inevitably be passed on, unless hauliers,manufacturers and wholesalers want to go bankrupt.

Don't get too exited about this . Treasury have only allowed the increase to be postponed - it will never be able to keep its hands off fuel - too easy for them to collect this revenue. What we need is a really strong 'Union' to represent drivers- public and commercial - with meaningful boycotts of the pumps for any future increases. We have been ripped off for too long.

Badgered the local Tory MP but no support - only political flannel and blame on the cost of oil (obviously afraid of upsetting the party Whips) so mailed the PM directly. Never done that before but getting a result like this makes it all worthwhile. Well done to all who chipped in - goes to show that a big enough voice CAN NOT be ignored. Keep the momentum rolling for the long term fight!

Well done!!! Quentin and all the team. Let's hope that it stays that way!! If we didnt keep sending money abroad the Goverment would not have to keep doing these back door taxes.
I think that if they rise it in the future ,if everyone boycotted the pumps it would have an impact.
Oil prices have fallen but I can never see it dropping to an avoidable price in the future, they have got us all in a vice.
Keep up the good work it just shows that with support from supporters the Goverment have to listen after all it's our country too !!

excellent result.......and a bit of coverage in the media, but hey, wha t sort of christmas present is it? time for a cuppa and then we'd best settle down to try and fight the january rise maybe we should all just bombard the pm right from the start, his mp's are generally rubbish 'cos they're all 'yes' men. still, at least the rest of the summer will be a bit easier on the pocket than expected :0)
