It should not need a Politician or Economist or anybody else with half a brain to know that to reduce prices means more business, sales and employment.
if the Government goes ahead with there planned tax increase on fuel duty, then it shows how out of touch they are with the every day working class person struggles. This would put an even greater strain on peoples bugets who are already experiancing difficulties, it's getting to be like a seen out of dickens era where people were working for a pittance and hardly making ends meat.
It is time to stop pussy footing aroud and call for a "TOTAL NATIONAL STRIKE COUNTRY WIDE" and i mean everybody out until this immoral government reduces the fuel duty burden it has placed on the people of this country. They are elected to run the country for us NOT PUNISH .

The Government do not appear to realaise that for every £ 1 billlion taken in Fuel escalator duty a further £1.5 Billion is taken out of the ecconony as this is a direct on cost to induatry and has to be recovered by being added to the costs of everything. They talk about increasing manufacturing whilst destroyng the cost base.
Fuel Duty is Tax on companies, and individuals, including pensioners, particularly those living in rural areas. Businesses have to make a profit to survive, and the more costs they have to face in terms of fuel duty, the less people they can afford to employ. At a time of rising unemployment, surely it makes sense to reduce fuel duty, and avoid ever increasing payments to support the unemployed. As far as individuals are concerned the more fuel duty they have to pay, the less money they have in their pockets to spend on goods and services, which is diametrically opposed creating growth in the economy. Without any shadow of doubt fuel duty is one of the root causes of high unemployment, and is stifling growth at time when the Government needs to address both of these issues if we are to see real economic recovery in the UK.
The TAX/DUTY on fuel must come down in the next budget,as it is already far to high aprice to pay evern now.One just cant keep passing the cost onto one's clieants,as they could go to somebody eles,who would charge less for travel/call out fees.Then thire is another nail in the coffin.This is what the prevouse and present Goverment are doing now.When the times where good,they (the Goverment)should have put the surplus money into a safe fund,for this sort of situration.But no,they went on spending as if they had a bottomless pit.Now we are paying for it,but for how long can we do this for !-!!Time the Goverment give something back,so that we can turn this country round.Surely where is the "common sence" gone these days.I think a monkey can work alot more things out than what this and provouse Goverments have done.
People should realize that this is essentially a Labour policy gone out of control (why am I not surprised?). They introduced the taxation escalator for entirely bogus ideological reasons, and then trashed the economy so badly that the Chancellor could not easily stop it. However, with the latest round of tax receipts, Mr. Osborne now has a chance to show what he is really made of by finally scrapping the entire escalator idea and stimulating the economy by cutting fuel duty. If he can combine that with a cut in income tax, we might just get out of this recession in reasonable shape.
Hi there, As I live in N Ireland is there likely to be a march organised on 7th March or is it Main UK only? I would support the Fair Fuel day as would others if one was organised in Northern Ireland.

Why do we not go to out top universities and get them to develop Hydrogen technology and thus end forever any dependency on oil states plus hydrogen is totally non polluting
When are we going to realise that unless we the people start taking a stance together against the successive governments, which over the years has sold-off virtually all income-earning assets this country has ever built up so that all they have coming in to run the country are the extortionate taxes imposed on us, whether it is fuel duty, VAT or all the other taxes that we are required to pay from our ever-decreasing meagre incomes. This is why the media reports that the government I worried about the potential daily reduction only 1p in duty. I'd like to suggest that we stop being individuals and collaborate in a national, DON'T BUY PETROL OR DIESEL TODAY Campaign and hit the government's pocket for a change!

I don't believe there is a quick fix of the fuel duty problem but, considering a longer term, if only the majority of the population who have a voting right actually went and voted THEN we must just get the Government we NEED, and not ones like the present Big Two and a Half Coalition neither of which, apparently, have any interest in the people, only in political ideals. May I suggest that as it is known who actually votes and who doesn't vote - their/our names are noted in each polling station when they/we do - those that do not should be penalised in some way, perhaps an increase in their council tax< Better still get a new law passed that demands that every adult MUST vote at general and local elections, or provide a very good reason why they didn't. Our forefathers and mothers fought long and hard battles to get the vote for every citizen. Those that now don't vote are ................. traitors perhaps?
